LOGANVILLE -- Providence scored four runs in the fifth inning of Game 2 against George Walton Academy to win 5-3 and split the series. The deciding Game 3 will be played today at George Walton at 5:30 p.m.
Justin Brew had a solo home run before the Storm (18-13) rallied for the win. David Rhodes had a two-RBI double and Steven Kleinschmidt was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Erich Stahl got the win on the mound, throwing a 78-pitch complete game, allowing no earned runs, three hits and striking out two.
Providence lost Game 1 of the series 4-1. Luke Henderson was the losing pitcher, throwing seven innings and allowing four hits and striking out one.
Kleinschmidt was 1-for-2 with a double, Brew was 1-for-3 with a run and Michael Shealy was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Pepperell 2, GAC 0
ROME -- Greater Atlanta Christian was knocked out of the first round of the playoffs with a 2-0 loss to Pepperell on Wednesday.
Ross Wood went 2-for-4 and Justin Lewis struck out five and allowed five hits for the Spartans, who finished the season 13-15.
GAC 10, Union County 0
NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian had eight players score goals, including a pair from Nash Wagnon and Hudson Kuipers in the Spartans' 10-0 victory in the second round of the Class AA state playoffs on Wednesday. The Spartans (15-1-2) will host Vidalia on Saturday in the state quarterfinals.
Davis Bryan, Brendan Dickerson, Max Gomas, David Johnson, Nate Ream and Miller Kettle each scored goals. Goalkeepers Jake Doiron and Justin Phan combined for the shutout.
Hebron 1, AIS 0
DACULA -- Hebron won its second round Class A state playoff game over Atlanta International School 1-0 on Wednesday.
Bailey Pinto scored the game's winning goal in overtime on an assist from Emory Russell. Noah Blaylock got the shutout in goal for Hebron (14-2-1).
Milton 16, Collins Hill 2
MILTON -- Connor Pittman scored a pair of goals in Collins Hill's 16-2 loss to Milton on Wednesday in the state playoffs.
Juan Espinoza had one assist and Cody Lewis made 14 saves in goal for the Eagles, who finished the season 11-7.
McIntosh 18, Wesleyan 9
PEACHTREE CITY -- Courtney O'Leary scored five goals in Wesleyan's 18-9 loss to McIntosh in the state playoffs on Wednesday.
Lyndsey Moore added goals and Sydney Stone and Emily Farrow added solid defense for the Wolves, who finished the season 10-9.
