SEC honors North's Broome for community service

North Gwinnett grad Brittany Broome, a senior at Ole Miss, was named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team for softball this week. Each SEC had one player make the team.

Broome participated in free community sports clinics by organizing hitting and fielding drills, working with parents to help teach their children basic softball skills and emphasizing base running and agility drills. She joined in multiple cancer awareness events by helping organize welcome gifts and survivor bags for the Walk for the Women We Love 5K, and participated in Reading with the Rebels by reading books to elementary school students. She also delivered Thanksgiving meals to needy families and participated in First Baptist Buford's delivery during Christmas break.

On the field, Broome is the career stolen bases record holder at Ole Miss (74).
