LAWRENCEVILLE -- An overturned log truck injured three and caused long delays at one of Gwinnett's already nightmarish intersections Tuesday morning.
The massive truck was traveling eastbound on Ga. Highway 316 when, at about 5:30 a.m., it overturned near its under-construction intersection with Ga. Highway 20. A total of four vehicles were ultimately involved.
"(The truck) rolled onto its side, losing its load on the roadway," Gwinnett County fire department spokesman Lt. Colin Rhoden said. "The truck leaked hydraulic fluid which was stopped by fire crews."
The Department of Transportation "used a front end loader" to move the logs from the road, Rhoden said.
Fire officials said three patients were treated and transported to the hospital. A Lawrenceville police spokeswoman said there were not believed to be any major injuries.
The driver of the log truck was unharmed.
The busy intersection was shut down for about 90 minutes, Lawrenceville police said.
