LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Gwinnett County jail is the latest local filming spot for a major motion picture.

Sheriff's department spokeswoman Shannon Volkodav confirmed that a crew filming scenes for "Need for Speed" -- a Dreamworks production featuring "Breaking Bad" star Aaron Paul -- was at the jail Monday for a one-day shoot. The facility's overflow parking lot, located just off Ga. Highway 316 near Ga. Highway 20, was filled with trailers, semi trucks and production equipment Monday.

No other details regarding the shoot were immediately available.

The movie, which also stars Michael Keaton, is scheduled for release on March 14, 2014. It is loosely based on the video game series of the same name.

An online summary describes the plot as follows: "Fresh from prison, a street racer who was framed by a wealthy business associate joins a cross country race with revenge on his mind. His ex-partner, learning of the plan, places a massive bounty on his head as the race begins."

Much of the movie's filming is being done in Macon and Columbus, as well as different sites in Utah, California and New York.

Monday's action in Gwinnett is at least the third production to visit the county in the last month or so. Reese Witherspoon recently worked at a restaurant in Sugarloaf Mills Mall and a Christmas movie starring Joel McHale shot last month in downtown Norcross. Movies like "Identity Thief," "Flight" and "Due Date" have also shot scenes in Gwinnett.

The film industry has flourished across Georgia in recent years, thanks to a series of tax breaks and other incentives aimed at drawing production companies to the state.
