LAWRENCEVILLE — The Division of Family and Children Services is sponsoring a Business Attire and Heels Drive on behalf of Gwinnett County’s Women’s Shelter, Partners Against Domestic Violence.
The purpose of the event is to assist in providing business attire for the women in the shelter to continue or enter into the workforce. They will collect gently used (clean) business wear and heels (dress shoes).
In addition, the organization will provide information on children that are free for adoption and on how to become a foster parent.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 25 at 33 S. Clayton St., Lawrenceville.
Concert for a Cure is May 19
GRAYSON — A fundraiser is scheduled for May 19 to honor Nikki Rouis, a local girl who lost a battle with cancer earlier this year.
The inaugural Nikki’s Birthday Concert for a Cure! is scheduled for 2 to 6 p.m. at Music on Main Street in downtown Lilburn. It will feature music, food, raffles and silent auctions all in the name of supporting the cause.

All proceeds from the event will go directly to fund skin cancer research.
Cost is $20 for adults, $10 for kids 15 and under.
Attendees can bring their own coolers with snacks and drinks. Organizers also encourage visitors to bring a blanket and chairs to enjoy live music at the outdoor venue.
Only cash will be accepted at the event.
