LAWRENCEVILLE — A domestic dispute that brought police to a Lawrenceville home early Thursday morning escalated into a fire scene, which later brought an arson charge.
Gwinnett Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said Ivan Jaramillo, 42, was charged with first degree arson after Jaramillo allegedly set fire to a second floor master bathroom. Jaramillo’s wife and teenage daughter left the house in the 200 block of Galesburg Drive S.W. after police were called at about 1 a.m. They were not there when the fire started hours later.
Rutledge said fire investigators found “sufficient evidence” that indicated Jaramillo started the fire, which caused moderate damage to the bathroom and sent smoke throughout the second floor. When firefighters arrived at 6:52 a.m., they found light smoke showing from the house.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire and specific circumstances about the incident were not released because they are part of an ongoing investigation, Rutledge said.
