Banquet to feature new book on UGA student life

ATHENS -- The spring banquet for The Red & Black, the University of Georgia's independent student newspaper, will also preview a new book examining student life over the years through its pages.

At the April 19 banquet, the book titled "Dear Old U-G-A" -- a history of student life at the University of Georgia from 1893 to 2013, as reflected through the pages of its student newspaper -- will be previewed and discussed by author Carrol Dadisman, a former editor of The Red and Black and a distinguished publisher.

Dadisman, a 1956 graduate of UGA's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, will sign commemorative book plates prior to current Red & Black student journalists being honored. Dadisman spent four years sifting through the pages of The Red & Black to compile and write the 384-page book.

Tickets for the evening can be purchased for $50. Those interested are asked to RSVP by Friday, April 12, by sending a check to The Red & Black, 540 Baxter St., Athens, Ga., 30605, attn: Spring Banquet.
