Special Photo Norcross hosts its Spring Clean Up and Recycling Day on Saturday. Residents can recycle electronics and shred confidential documents.

NORCROSS -- The weather may not make it feel like spring, but the new season is here and it's time to sweep out the dust bunnies, open the windows and start getting rid of your junk.

On Saturday the city of Norcross is hosting Spring Clean-Up and Recycling Day. Norcross residents and other locals can shred, dump, donate and unload unwanted goods at the event with the knowledge that the items will be properly recycled.

Those who need to toss out articles like old couches, refrigerators and other bulky non-toxic waste can bring those things to the Clean-Up Day Throw Out at Public Works Barn at 345 Lively St. from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. This site is for Norcross residents only.

There is a separate area to recycle old electronics located at the Norcross Community Center at 10 College St. The Atlanta Recycling Solution is collecting used cellphones, computers, VCRs, telephones and more. Televisions will cost $10 to recycle. They will be taking items from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For those who want to shred important documents, American Security Shredding will be present with an on-site shred truck at the Norcross City Hall at 65 Lawrenceville St. The company will be destroying papers from 9 a.m. to noon or until the truck is full. There is a limit to five medium boxes per car.

As always, this is a "CAN" Do event. While you're looking through your house for things to give away, don't forget to scan the pantry. All of the non-perishable food is donated to a local food bank to keep the pantries full.

For complete info including any potential costs, locations and what materials will be allowed, visit www.norcrossga.net and on the Code Enforcement page under "resources" view the flyers.
