PREP ROUNDUP: Dacula upsets Brookwood in Region 8 baseball

DACULA -- Dacula pulled an upset on Wednesday, beating Brookwood 5-2 to move to 5-8 on the year and 2-2 in the region.

Dylan Brown picked up the win on the mound, giving up seven hits and striking out six.

Chance Keefer went 3-for-3 at the plate, while also picking up the save on the mound, going the final two innings with two strikeouts.

Austin Collins was 2-for-3, while Josh Bullock and Tyler Crumley each were 1-for-3. Nick Heamon added two RBI's.

BASEBALL

Parkview 5, Archer 3

LILBURN -- Parkview moved to 8-3 on the year and 5-1 in the region with a 5-3 win over Archer on Wednesday.

Christian Vann picked up the win on the mound, going six innings, while striking out eight. Sam McCoy picked up the save in one inning of relief.

Micah Finley led the way at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, while Jarrett Hood was 2-for-3 with a double. Zach Langley and Rob Youngblood each added an RBI.

Mountain View 6, Collins Hill 3

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Mountain View moved to 7-6 on the year with a 6-3 win over Collins Hill on Wednesday.

A.J. Moore picked up the win, throwing a complete game, while striking out nine.

Peyton Fore had two hits and two runs scored, while Garry Gwaltney, Luis Vilchez and Joey Bell each had a hit and a run scored.

Collins Hill was led by Adam Horridge, who scored two runs, while William Holland scored the other run.

Peachtree Ridge 4, Norcross 0

SUWANEE -- Peachtree Ridge moved to 7-6 on the year and 1-0 in the region with a 4-0 win over Norcross on Wednesday.

Tyler Haswell picked up the win, giving up three hits and struck out six.

Cameron Shepherd led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, whil Cooper Burdick was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jonathan Hudson had a double and an RBI, while Haswell also had an RBI.

Griffin Helms was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases for Norcross (8-3, 0-1).

Buford 7, North Hall 3

BUFORD -- Buford moved to 10-2 on the year and 7-1 in the region with a 7-3 win over North Hall on Wednesday.

Jake Higginbotham picked up the win on the mound, going three innings and striking out seven.

Patrick Burnette had two hits, while Russell Klein had a double and an RBI, and Jake Mayo had an RBI.

Mill Creek 5, Duluth 0

HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek moved to 7-5 on the year and 1-0 in the region with a 5-0 win over Duluth on Wednesday.

Shane Seckinger picked up the win on the mound, going 5 innings with one hit and nine strikeouts. Bryan Hudson went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Kyle Abernathy had two RBIs.

North 11, Habersham 3

MOUNT AIRY -- North moved to 8-5 on the year and 1-0 in the region with an 11-3 win over Habersham on Wednesday.

Jordan Brown picked up the win on the mound, going 5 innings, giving up three hits and seven strikeouts.

Danny Sanchez was 4-for-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI, while Zayne Stringer had a double and four RBIs. Blake Sangster went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Brady Powell had a double and two RBIs.

Meadowcreek 10, Clarkston 9

CLARKSTON -- Meadowcreek moved to 5-6 on the year with a 10-9 win over Clarkston on Wednesday.

Shea Wilkey picked up the win, pitching 1 innings with two strikeouts, while also going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI at the plate. Austin Wilkey picked up the save, while also going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Eric Arb was 1-for-4 with an RBI, while Johnathan Arnold was 1-for-4.

Lanier 10, Chestatee 0

SUGAR HILL -- Lanier moved to 10-3 on the year and 3-0 in the region with a 10-0 win in six innings on Wednesday.

Kameron Doster picked up the win as he went four innings and struck out three.

Michael Diaz led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Kristoff Rietig was 2-for-3 and Doster was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Matt Ramsay and Taylor Grant each had two RBIs.

BOYS SOCCER

Wesleyan 4, Marist 0

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan moved to 3-6-1 on the year with a 4-0 win over Marist on Wednesday.

Cort Coxhead led the charge with two goals and one assist, while Will Sharon and Benji Johnson each had one goal. Matt Maratti and Aurimas Stripeikis also added one assist each. Carter Flachbarth picked up the shutout in goal.

BOYS LACROSSE

Peachtree Ridge 6, Pope 5

MARIETTA -- Peachtree Ridge moved to 5-2 on the year with a 6-5 win in overtime against Pope on Wednesday.

Doug Podetke scored the game-winning goal, while also adding another goal earlier in the game. Steven Lee, Jacob Lee, Miller Hollstein and Matty Ledon each added a goal.

Sourish Ray picked up the win in goal, making 20 saves.

Duluth 12, Whitewater 7

FAYETTEVILLE -- Duluth moved to 5-4 on the year with a 12-7 win over Whitewater on Wednesday. Brendan Eckard and Jordan Dandridge each had three goals, while Ben Loyal and Jason Kim had two goals apiece.

Collins Hill 12, Newnan 3

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Collins Hill moved to 6-5 on the year with a 12-3 win over Newnan on Wednesday.

Russell Gardner led the way with two goals and two assists, while Connor Pittman and Zach Caw each had two goals.

Roman Tazani led the defense with five ground balls, while Josh Jones had six saves in goal.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Grayson 17, Archer 7

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Grayson moved to 6-3 on the year with a 17-7 win over Archer on Wednesday.

Maddie LaCavera and Lyndsay Parris each had four goals and one assist, while Anna Scartz had three goals and two assists. Austyn Gorski and Ashley Mistretta also had three goals apiece.

Taylor Denton had 13 saves in goal.

Brookwood 20, Rockdale Co. 2

SNELLVILLE -- Brookwood moved to 6-7 on the year and 2-2 in the region with a 20-2 win over Rockdale County on Wednesday.

Lindsey Thomson led the way with six goals and three ground balls, while Paige Miller had four goals and one assist. Lauren Clay chipped in two goals and seven ground balls, and Maecey Robertson had two goals and three ground balls.

BOYS TENNIS

Wesleyan 4, Whitefield Academy 1

SMYRNA -- Wesleyan moved to 5-5 on the year with a 4-1 win over Whitefield Academy on Wednesday.

Picking up wins for the Wolves were Jeffrey Chang at No. 1 singles, Austin Zakas at No. 2 singles, the No. 1 doubles team of Cole Brown and Andrew Dorman, and the No. 2 doubles team of Cameron Anderson and Michael Armstrong.

GAC 5, Providence 0

NORCROSS -- GAC picked up a 5-0 win over Providence on Wednesday.

Picking up wins for the Spartans were Bailey Showers, Tyler Sztuka and Parker Bryant at all three singles' positions. The doubles' teams of Jared Metzger and Alex Soh, and Kris Ippolitto and Brendan Corley also won.

BUFORD -- Buford moved to 16-0 on the year and 7-0 in the region with a 5-0 win over Banks Co. on Wednesday.

Picking up wins for the Wolves were Colby West, Nicholas Becker and Skyler Wilson at all three singles' positions. The doubles' teams of Alex Turner and Rob Hunter, and Avery Turner and David Petroni also won.

GIRLS TENNIS

North 4, Norcross 1

SUWANEE -- North moved to 12-2 on the year and 5-1 in the region with a 4-1 win over Norcross on Wednesday.

Picking up wins for the Bulldogs were Hannah Serdinia at No. 1 singles, Jada Tijani at No. 3 singles, the No. 1 doubles' team of Haley Wix and Emma Etelalahti, and the No. 2 doubles' team of Arianna Callan and Vanessa Eusebio.

Norcross' (11-2, 4-2) only win came from Amber Lackey at No. 2 singles.

Buford 5, Banks Co. 0

BUFORD -- Buford moved to 14-2 on the year and 6-1 in the region with a 5-0 win over Banks Co. on Wednesday.

Picking up wins for the Wolves were Annalea Stevens, Mariajose Ferreyros and Peyton Wolfe at all three singles' positions. The doubles' teams of Savannah Whaley and Abbey Mitchell, and Rebecca Hendrix and Jessica Thompson also won.

Wesleyan 4, Whitefield Academy 1

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan moved to 9-1 on the year with a 4-1 win over Whitefield Academy on Wednesday.

Picking up wins for the Wolves were Sophia Strickland at No. 1 singles and Savannah Strickland at No. 2 singles. Also winning were the No. 1 doubles' team of Kaitlin English and Leila Jordan, and the No. 2 doubles' team of Dee Dee Seaman and Katie Van Laeke.

GAC 4, Providence 1

NORCROSS -- GAC picked up 4-1 win over Providence on Wednesday.

Picking up wins for the Spartans were Julia Bryan at No. 2 singles, Phoenix Gandy at No. 3 singles, the No. 1 doubles' team of Rachel Chupp and Meghan Mitchell, and the No. 2 doubles' team of Stephanie Collins and Anne Puntkattalee.

Vani Crist picked up Providence's only win at No. 1 singles.

DACULA -- Dylan Pence shot a 39 as Mill Creek beat Norcross 163-174 Wednesday at the Hamilton Mill Golf Club.

Clay Trocchio shot a 40 to lead Norcross, while Nile Sakr had a hole-in-one on the eighth hole.

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Blake Watkins and Bailey Ulp each shot a 42 as North beat Duluth 170-191 on Wednesday at Northwood Country Club.

JOHNS CREEK -- Cody Solomon shot a 35 as Wesleyan tied Lovett (161) for second in a three-way match which included Woodward Academy (159) on Wednesday at the St. Ives Country Club.
