DULUTH -- Two people reported in critical condition after they were ejected from a motorcycle during a March 16 crash with a truck and trailer have been identified.
Miroslav Dimitrov, of Duluth, and Hong Tran, of Sugar Hill, both 22, collided with a pickup truck and trailer driven by Robert Cheeley, 26, of Johns Creek.
In a Duluth Police accident report released on Tuesday, Cheeley told police that he made a U-turn from the left lane in the middle of Pleasant Hill Road near Plantation Trace apartments after he realized he was traveling westbound in the wrong direction.
Dimitrov, who was driving the motorcycle, told police that he made eye contact with Cheeley as Cheeley was changing lanes, and Dimitrov attempted to move to the center lane to avoid a crash. But the 2009 Yamaha motorcycle struck the 2005 Ford truck on the front left side.
Dimitrov said the last thing he remembered was making eye contact with Cheeley, according to the report.
Gwinnett Medical Center spokeswoman Dolores Ware said Dimitrov was in good condition at GMC-Lawrenceville on Tuesday, while Tran was discharged last week.
The report said Cheeley was cited for an improper U-turn.
