LAWRENCEVILLE -- A cardiology practice with locations around Gwinnett and metro Atlanta has joined the Gwinnett Medical Group.

The CardioVascular Group, which provides services for prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, also performs stress testing, echocardiography, vascular services, positron emission tomography, and coronary and peripheral interventions. Based in Lawrenceville, the practice of 11 cardiologists has locations in Buford, Duluth, Lawrenceville and Snellville.

Gwinnett Medical Center President and CEO Phil Wolfe said in a news release on Tuesday that hospital officials couldn't be more proud about the addition.

"We've long considered the CVG physicians as partners since many were extremely instrumental in championing and securing open heart services for Gwinnett," Wolfe said.

Dr. Manfred Sandler, who has served as medical director of cardiology at GMC for 15 years, said the CVG's goal is to provide patients with state-of-the-art technology and advanced prevention and treatment of heart and vascular disease.

"This partnership will allow us to further this goal to meet and exceed the diverse needs of our patient community," Sandler said in the release.

Among those procedures are electrophysiology diagnostics and therapeutic catheter ablation of cardiac arrhythmias. CVG also performs transcatheter aortic valve implantation and pacemaker implantation.
