Gilmartin, Obispo sent to G-Braves

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Sean Gilmartin, the Gwinnett Braves’ likely opening night starter, was sent to minor league camp on Sunday along with reliever Wirfin Obispo.

Gilmartin, 22, was Atlanta’s first-round draft choice in 2011 out of Florida State. The left-hander had a combined 3.84 ERA in 27 starts with Class AA Mississippi and the Class AAA G-Braves last season.

Obispo, 28, could be a key part of the Gwinnett bullpen. The right-hander pitched four years in Japan before spending last season in the Cincinnati organization, posting a combined 3.00 ERA as a starter and reliever with Class AA Pensacola and Class AAA Louisville.

Gilmartin and Obispo were both non-roster invitees to major league spring training.

The G-Braves open the season April 4 against Charlotte at Coolray Field.
