Scavenger hunt returns to Suwanee

SUWANEE -- The second installment of Suwanee's "Super Incredible Race," a mental and physical scavenger hunt, is set to return next month.

The award-winning event, which counted more than 40 teams last year, is modeled after the "Amazing Race" in which teams of two or teams of several family members receive a series of clues in and around Town Center Park and Old Town. A 7 p.m. free concert by a Journey tribute band will close the festivities on April 20. The event begins at 3 p.m. at Town Center Park. Pre-registration is required by April 5.

Prizes will be awarded in pedestrian and bike categories, and for best costume or theme.

The fee is $25 per two-person team, plus $10 per additional participant. Registrants receive a Super Incredible Race T-shirt.

At last year's event, contestants slurped spaghetti noodles, danced, solved a complex math equation in which the answer was 30024 and told a joke.

Participants may compete on foot or bike, and may travel up to five miles, according to a news release, which added that the course could take one to three hours to complete.

A camera, or other means of Internet access is needed per team, and each team member should bring at least one canned good.

Last year's event was named Best New Event last month by the Southeast Festival and Events Association annual conference.
