GREENVILLE, S.C. -- After falling 12-8 in the semifinals against Bishop England (S.C.), Peachtree Ridge's girls lacrosse team rebounded to beat Blythewood (S.C.) 20-3 in the consolation game to take third in the out-of-state tournament.
In the semifinal loss, Darby Frisbie scored five goals and Kayla Jones added two and had a pair of assists for Peachtree Ridge. Frisbie kept scoring in the second match, added five more goals. Kristin Scheder also scored five and Jones added three and seven more assists. Goalie Izzy Ivory had seven saves for the Lions (5-4).
Spartans win Lady Catamount Invitational
DALTON -- Bailey Tardy shot a 3-under 69 at the Dalton Golf and Country Club to lead GAC's girls golf team to a tournament win in the Lady Catamount Invitational.
Tardy's 69 gave low medalist honors. Also for GAC, Elizabeth Mizell shot an 89 and Kathryn Fazekas and Paige Hankerson both shot 98s. GAC's team score of 256 topped North Oconee (260) by four. Host Dalton shot a 275 to finish third.
