Benson McAulay, Jr. 19442013
We regret to announce the death of Benson Wood McAulay, Jr. of Lawrenceville, Georgia, formerly of Columbia, South Carolina. Mr. McAulay was the son of the late Benson Wood McAulay, Sr. and Dorothy Gill McAulay of Columbia. Ben McAulay had retired from a career representing the Austin Reed clothing line of Hart Schaffner and Marx in its southeastern territory. He was an avid sportsman, and brought great joy to all his associates, whatever the game. Ben was born in Columbia on July 6, 1944 and graduated from A.C. Flora High School, where he was a member of the baseball team. He attended Anderson College, after which he served in the Army National Guard. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy McAulay Martin and her husband James G. Martin of Mooresville, North Carolina; two aunts, Colleen Wallace Gill and Mildred Gill Wise, both of Charlotte, North Carolina; his nephew, James G. Martin, Jr. and wife Patricia and their two children, Kathren and James III of Charlotte; his niece, Emily Martin Richey and her children, Carter and Rosalie of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and his nephew, Arthur Benson Martin and wife Erin and their son Barrett of Charlotte. On Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 2:00 pm, there will be a service of worship and remembrance in Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church at 471 Mount Vernon Highway in Sandy Springs, Georgia conducted by the Reverend Joseph B.
