North Gwinnett product Ryan McDaniel made the Arena Football League's Philadelphia Soul when the team announced its post-training camp roster over the weekend.
The wide receiver survived the final cuts from 35 players down to 24 (20 active and four inactive), earning a shot at his first AFL season.
McDaniel, who played college football at Samford, played last season with the Professional Indoor Football League's Knoxville Nighthawks. The 6-foot-3, 198-pounder earned second-team All-PIFL honors and had team highs of 71 catches and 768 yards and scored 14 touchdowns.
Philadelphia begins its season Friday at 9 p.m. against the Arizona Rattlers. The game will be carried on the CBS Sports Network.
