LTC (Ret) Bob P. Oglesby, age 83, of Lawrenceville passed away Monday, March 18, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Little Oglesby. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kelli Oglesby of Lilburn; grandchildren, Jennifer South of Atlanta, Caroline Oglesby of Lilburn, Thomas Oglesby of Lilburn; and nieces and nephews. Bob was a graduate of the Citadel, Class of 1951. He obtained his Masters degree in Systems Management from USC in 1973. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and served 23 years before retiring as Lt. Col. During his years of service, Bob served in the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts and received two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, and many other medals and awards. In his retirement, he became the unofficial Mayor of Garden Plaza where he was very active. He cherished his friends and activities at Garden Plaza, especially Drama Club, Choral activities, and the ROMEOs. A Memorial Service Honoring the Life of LTC (Ret) Bob P. Oglesby will be held Friday, March 22, 2013 at 1:30PM at Garden Plaza, Lawrenceville. The family will receive friends beginning at 1PM at Garden Plaza. Interment will be held at a later date at Georgia National Cemetery with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society.
