NORCROSS -- No one was home on Monday afternoon when Gwinnett firefighters found heavy smoke coming from a two-story condominium in Norcross.
A passerby reported a fire at 6448 Appletree Way and firefighters had the blaze under control in less than 30 minutes at 4:34 p.m. The fire caused extensive smoke and heat damage to an upstairs bathroom, and slightly into attic space, but was contained by crews, Gwinnett Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said.
Adjoining units did not suffer fire damage, Rutledge said.
The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation, Rutledge said. Two adults and a child were displaced by the damage.
