Suwanee gym to have workout fundraiser for homeless

SUWANEE -- A two-time ESPY award winner and a two-time Olympian will be special guests at a fundraiser on Saturday at Town Center Park.

No Excuses CrossFit in Suwanee will host a Workout of the Day event at 7 a.m. when registration begins. The event schedule also includes a 5K run and several team challenges. Kyle Maynard, a two-time ESPY winner, Collins Hill graduate and congenital quadruple amputee, and Chad Vaughn, a two-time Olympian weightlifter will be special guests at the event.

Registration for the 5K race is $35, the Team Challenge is $65 and the individual WOD is $70. Teams consist of four men or women in any combination.

All proceeds from the event benefit Family Promise of Gwinnett, which brings shelter, meals and support services to families without homes.

Organizers said the purpose of the event is to raise awareness and provide financial, developmental and spiritual help to the homeless in the local community by sharing the love and gospel of Jesus Christ.
