AUBURN -- This year's St. Baldricks event will honor Will Wagner, an 8-year-old Winder boy who was diagnosed brain cancer in December.
The event will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Dakotas Grill and Bar in Auburn. Wagner is the son of Winder-Barrow football coach David Wagner. Last year's event counted more than 100 public safety personnel, government officials and other community members who shaved their heads in support of children who have cancer.
The Aflac Cancer Center in Atlanta is a beneficiary of the fundraiser, which supports life-saving research for childhood cancer cures.
The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. For more information on the event, visit www.stbaldricks.org/events/barrowcounty.
