North's Cook signs with St. Louis Rams

North Gwinnett grad Jared Cook officially has a new home in the NFL.

The 6-foot-5, 248-pounder, one of the top tight ends in free agency, signed a five-year deal with the St. Louis Rams on Tuesday. Rams head coach Jeff Fisher drafted Cook out of South Carolina when he was with the Tennesee Titans.

Cook, 25, spent his first four NFL seasons with the Titans and has 131 catches for 1,717 yards and eight touchdowns in his career. The former South Carolina standout had 44 catches for 523 yards and four TDs last season.

One of the top performers at the 2009 NFL Combine, he turned heads with a 41-inch vertical and a 4.49-second 40-yard dash. That speed has produced big plays in the NFL, including a 61-yard TD catch last season and an 80-yard TD reception in 2011.
