HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek's boys and girls track and field teams won the Jerry Arnold Georgia Challenge on Saturday.
The Hawks' boys team scored 95.5 points to hold off defending state champion Brookwood's 74 points. The Mill Creek girls had 85 points to beat Brookwood (65) and Peachtree Ridge (60).
Mill Creek's Devozea Gaines (100-meter dash), Michael Cheeks (200, 400), Tyler Woodrome (1,600) and Kaleb Kim (discus) finished in first place. Norcross' Nathan Strother (300 hurdles), Shahid Mitchell (high jump), Josh Marsh (long jump), Peachtree Ridge's Kevin Mills (3,200), Justin Pizarro (110 hurdles), Brookwood's Chris Powell (triple jump), Jared Munday (shot put) and North Gwinnett's Andres Littig (800) were also tops in their events.
Mill Creek's Malayshia George (200, 400, high jump), Dami Agboola (shot put), Kelsey Gray (discus) led the girls team to victory.
Norcross' Katherine Yost (3,200), LaTasha Pride (300 hurdles) were first in their events along with Brookwood's Simone Glenn (100), Peachtree Ridge's Kendra Purifoye (100 hurdles) and Collins Hill's Bola Hambolu (triple jump).
