NORCROSS -- A three-man robbery team used semi-automatic BB guns to rob a Norcross ice cream shop of more than $500 last month.
Gwinnett Police arrested Denni Mesael Gasper-Garcia of Duluth, Joel Pena of Norcross, both 19, and charged them with three counts of armed robbery each, and Gasper-Garcia was also charged with criminal attempt to commit a crime. A third young, Hispanic male was also part of the robbery, but not named in a police report or arrest warrant.
Gwinnett jail records show Gasper-Garcia was booked into the jail on Feb. 19, while Pena was on Feb. 25.
The incident occurred at La Mejor De Michoacan, an ice cream shop at 5824 Singleton Road in Norcross on Feb. 9.
The first suspect pointed a black, semi-automic pistol at several customers, while another suspect took money from a cash register. The third suspect served as a lookout during the incident, according to a police report.
The report said the suspects pointed the BB gun and demanded money from store employees before they fled the scene.
An arrest warrant filed on March 5 said the suspects stole $800 in the heist.
