Suwanee indie film series to feature Dukakis, Osment

SUWANEE -- Two well-known actors are featured in the latest installment of the independent film series being shown in Suwanee.

On March 18, Movie Tavern will play host to "The Misadventures of the Dunderheads" as part of the Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers. Actors Olympia Dukakis and Haley Joel Osment star in a film about an eccentric Montana family that includes a grandmother who can't read, a 17-year-old who accidently kills his best friend, and they flee with his 18-year-old sister on an adventure across the American West. They originally plan to escape to Canada, but end up in Mexico.

The behind-the-scenes crew includes a Disney screenwriter and sound credits by three Academy Award winners. The film also won Best Feature Film at The Big Apple Film Festival at Tribeca Center. It's directed by D.G. Brock.

The movie will be shown at 7 p.m. at 2855 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. Ticket purchase includes an opportunity to interact with filmmakers. Tickets are $6 each and available at the theater or online at www.movietavern.com.

Previous installments in the film series covered topics that included senior Olympians, New York City cab drivers and a behind-the-scenes look at an up-and-coming New York City chef.

Suwanee is one of about 18 communities representing eight states that make up the tour. The final installment of this series is scheduled for April.
