TAMPA -- All the attention was rightfully on the New York Yankees. But Mike Minor deserved some mention as well Saturday.
Minor pitched four scoreless innings and the visiting Braves won 2-1 in a game that marked the return of the Yankees' Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter.
Rivera, who officially announced that this will be his final season, pitched an impressive fifth inning, allowing no one to reach and striking out two. The career leader in saves was sidelined last season after knee surgery.
Jeter, who broke an ankle in the playoffs, also made his spring debut and the shortstop was 1-for-2 against Minor before being lifted.
The game drew a sellout crowd of 10,973 at George Steinbrenner Field.
Minor, making his third spring start, lowered his ERA to 2.00. He gave up three hits and walked two.
The victory evened the Braves' Grapefruit League record at 8-8. The Yankees are 3-11.
Tyler Pastornicky had a triple and single, raising his average .419. Jordan Schafer doubled for the Braves, who had just five hits, while Dan Uggla and Jordan Parraz drove in runs.
The Yankees' run came in the ninth inning off young left-hander Alex Wood and was unearned after an error by the pitcher.
The Braves return to Champion Stadium in Lake Buena Vista today to face Miami. Tim Hudson will get the start in the 1:05 p.m. game.
