Disc: 4 stars out of 4

Arguably the finest amongst a slew of masterpieces, Steven Spielberg's "Schindler's List" not also marked the director's switch from popcorn action flicks to deeper, more reflective drama. If not the best WWII movie ever made, it's easily that ripe genre's highest reaching. Exactly the type of production for which Blu-ray was invented director of photography Janusz Kaminski's stark and resonant black and white cinematography complements writer Steven Zaillian's unforgiving and blistering screenplay and every single performance is off-the-charts resolute. Like a maestro conducting a Mozart symphony, Spielberg pulls it all together in one of the all-time greatest epics ever made.
