Georgia Gwinnett College's baseball team is finally getting to play at home Saturday.

The Grizzlies play Rochester College from Michigan in a doubleheader that starts at 4 p.m. on the team's newly completed, state-of-the-art complex in Lawrenceville.

When wet weather this winter delayed construction, GGC opted to front-load it's baseball schedule with road games and has a 9-6 record so far. Two games originally scheduled Tuesday at home against Montreat College had to be postponed, but the facility is ready for games Saturday.

A pregame celebration is planned during which GGC President Daniel J. Kaufman will commemorate the event and throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The privately funded complex, adjacent to the campus' main entrance off Collins Hill Road, features a natural grass playing surface with team dugouts, seating for 800 spectators and a press box for game staff and working media. Additionally, a scoreboard with a digital message display is located over the outfield wall in right field.

"We are thrilled to open our beautiful new ballpark to the GGC community and our fans in the area," athletic director Darin Wilson said. "We truly feel that we've constructed one of the finest baseball facilities in the state and we can't wait to share this experience with the Grizzly fans, the city of Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County. We look forward to many years of great memories ahead."

The Grizzlies boast an active roster made up entirely of players from the state of Georgia and are led by first-year head coach Brad Stromdahl.

Admission is free Saturday and will remain so for the remainder of the Grizzlies' inaugural season. Free parking is available in the parking deck at the campus' main entrance off Collins Hill Road. Additionally, the parking deck and field are handicapped-accessible with a courtesy shuttle.
