TAMPA -- Freddie Freeman was 2-for-3 to raise his Grapefruit League average to .385 and Paul Maholm worked 3 scoreless innings despite four walks as the Braves defeated the New York Yankees 2-0 on Tuesday night.
Maholm allowed five runs over 2 innings in his previous start against Philadelphia, allowing six hits and walking two. He gave up three hits to the Yankees and struck out two.
Jordan Schafer scored in the first inning after a leadoff double. He also had two walks and a stolen base in the game. Tyler Pastornicky used his speed to give the Braves a run in the seventh, beating out an infield hit, stealing second, moving to third on the wild throw and scoring on a balk.
J.R. Graham got the save, pitching two scoreless innings. The Braves (6-6) are off today. They will host Detroit on Thursday at 6:05 p.m., with Julio Teheran getting the start. The game will be televised on CSS.
