GREENSBORO, N.C. — Georgia Tech post Robert Carter Jr. was named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Rookie of the Week for the week of Feb. 25-March 3, the ACC announced Monday.
The Shiloh grad averaged 13.5 points and 7.0 rebounds during the Yellow Jackets' 78-68 win over Maryland and a 70-57 loss to N.C. State.
The 6-foot-8, 245-pound freshman recorded his fourth double-double of the season in lifting Tech to the victory against the Terps, scoring 19 points with 10 rebounds, hitting 7 of 11 shots from the floor, and 4-for-4 from the foul line while adding two assists and two blocked shots. In Sunday’s game against N.C. State, Carter had eight points, four rebounds, two assists and three blocked shots.
For the season, Carter leads the Jackets in rebounding at 6.8 per game, ranks second in scoring at 10.0 points per game and blocked shots at 0.9 per game and is third on the team in field-goal shooting at 44.7 percent from the floor.
