LAWRENCEVILLE -- The state superintendent recently presented an Archer High School student with an award for her leadership with Future Business Leaders of America.

Sara Beth Marchert was selected as a student who demonstrated Excellence in Student Achievement. For this, she received a visit and a plaque from Superintendent John Barge.

Marchert began her FBLA journey in middle school. She was the first middle level state president. After attending more than 40 FBLA conferences, competing at the regional, state and national levels and earning all four levels of her business achievement awards, she went on to serve as the 2012-13 state president.

According to its website, FBLA is a nonprofit organization with a quarter of a million participating students nationwide. Among other goals, the organization aims to develop competent, aggressive business leadership, strengthen the confidence of students in themselves and their work, and create more interest in and understanding of American business enterprise.
