GAB: Dinner benefits Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett

Dinner to help local nonprofit

LAWRENCEVILLE — A spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, 1001 Duluth Highway, Lawrenceville.

Those who want to help the nonprofit organization — which relies heavily on individual and corporate donations as well as fundraising events — can buy a dine-in or to-go spaghetti plate. The plates are $8 for adults and $4 for children.

In addition, a silent auction and raffle for adult and children’s prizes will be held with many chances to win.

Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

According to its website, Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett aims to “provide the highest quality of educational and therapeutic programming available to children with and without disabilities; to nurture and challenge each student on his or her own level in all developmental and curricular areas; to instill in each student the positive self-image and love for learning which will lead to life long learning and personal development; and to support parents in their growing understanding of their children’s needs and abilities and in their quest for the best learning environment for their children.”

UPS honors Dacula man for safe driving

ATLANTA — UPS announced recently that 57 elite drivers from Georgia are among more than 1,000 worldwide inducted into the Circle of Honor, an honorary organization for UPS drivers who have achieved 25 or more years of accident-free driving.

Dacula’s Jack Belsom, who works for the Pleasantdale Hub of UPS, was among those who earned the honor

According to a news release from UPS, 6,486 active UPS drivers have racked up more than 5.3 billion “safe miles” during their careers, or the equivalent of circling the Earth more than 212,000 times.
