Gwinnett authorities capture murder suspect
LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department arrested and booked Lawrenceville resident Tyerus Brandon Hayes, 29, on a charge of first-degree murder Friday.
Hayes had a federal warrant out for his arrest in the shooting of Christopher Carter, 25, in West Virginia on Jan. 2.
According to the Herald-Dispatch (W.Va.), the shooting took place after a heroin theft, which Hayes and Nicholas Morton, 34, were believed to have partaken in. Both men were then believed to have left the state, according to the court documents and West Virginia State Police.
The paper reported that Carter received three gunshot wounds and died later at a local hospital.
"The murder warrant states an undisclosed amount of heroin was stolen from Hayes and Morton on Jan. 1. Another witness told investigators both men had 'made threats to kill people that had stolen from them,'"
Details of the arrest are unknown as of press time.
