LAWRENCEVILLE -- A Decatur native is the newest addition to the Gwinnett Medical Group.
The Gwinnett Medical Center recently announced Dr. Marcus C. Sims would join the Gwinnett Heart Specialists as a cardiologist with extensive experience in interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular disease, a press release said. Sims specializes in left heart catheterization and the radial artery approach in the wrist.
"My goal has always been to provide excellent cardiac care and services, which aligns with the goals of this cardiology practice, and GMG as a whole," Sims said.
Sims graduated from Queens College in Charlotte, N.C., the Morehouse School of Medicine and was an assistant professor of cardiology at Grady Memorial Hospital. His medical residency was at the University of Florida, and he had a cardiology fellowship at George Washington University Hospital. At George Washington, he became the chief fellow during his second year and later became the interventional cardiology fellow.
