Grayson opening Business Incubator

GRAYSON -- Business leaders have invited the Grayson community to come tour a new business incubator and co-working facility on Thursday at 438 Grayson Parkway, Grayson's 438 Building.

And just what is a business incubator and co-working facility?

Grayson's Downtown Development Authority Manager Gail Lane explained it as an "innovative approach to a grass-roots economic development concept."

According to a business plan describing it, business incubators "accelerate the successful development of entrepreneurial enterprises through business support resources and services. The main goal is to produce successful firms that will leave the program as viable businesses to create jobs and strengthen the local economy."

Lane said the downtown development authority is interviewing businesses and taking applications, "trying to find the right fit right now."

According to the business plan, in order to graduate successful entrepreneurs through the program, "a screening process needs to be executed."

Potential clients will be evaluated throughout the process using criteria based on the mission and objectives as well as compatibility with the other companies supported by the incubator.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 8:30 to 10 a.m., and the grand opening reception and business networking event is scheduled for 4:30 to 7 p.m.
