LAWRENCEVILLE -- Before the fireworks make an explosion, the Aurora Theatre will perform at Lawrenceville's Prelude event July 3 on the lawn of the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse.

The theater returns for its seventh year to present the Broadway musical Rodgers and Hammerstein's "South Pacific" -- for free.

Actor's Express Artistic Director Freddie Ashley directs the cast while Aurora's Associate Producer and resident Musical Director Ann-Carol Pence conducts the 20-piece orchestra.

Some of the musical's well-known songs include "Some Enchanted Evening," "Younger Than Springtime," "Bali Ha'i," "There Is Nothin' Like A Dame" and "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair."

Following the performance is a fireworks display, accompanied by the Aurora's orchestra playing the patriotic anthem "Stars and Stripes Forever" in tribute on the eve of Independence Day.

The public is invited to bring chairs, blankets and food. For those who would like to reserve a table, it is $125 for six people, plus linens.

The lawn seating starts at 5:30 with the performance at 7:30 p.m.
