4-H horse club looking for help

The Gwinnett County 4-H's horse club is looking for a few donors to pony up.

The Hi Hat Horse Club, a nonprofit youth development group affiliated with the University of Georgia Extension Service, competes in three statewide academic horse competitions each year. After two first-place finishes and another runner-up showing, Gwinnett County teams have qualified to represent Georgia in three national competitions -- if they can raise the funds to pay for it.

The group is hoping to travel to the national horse judging competition in August in Oklahoma City, the horse quiz bowl competition in October in Louisville, Ky., and the hippology competition in November in Columbus, Ohio. There are entry fees for each contestant in each contest, not to mention travel fees.

Those interested in donating can call Janice Rogers at 678-377-4010 or by email at janice.rogers@gwinnettcounty.com.
