LAWRENCEVILLE -- A grand opening event is scheduled for Friday through Sunday this weekend at Sears Outlet, Sugarloaf Mills Mall, 5900 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville.
According to a news release, the store sells "new, one of-a-kind, out of carton, discontinued, used, reconditioned, scratched and dented merchandise" including appliances, lawn and garden and apparel merchandise at 20-70 percent off regular retail prices.
A ribbon cutting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at the location.
Hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Gas South named Corporation of Year
ATLANTA -- Gas South recently received the corporation of the year award from the Council of Volunteer Administrators at the organization's annual end of the year meeting.
COVA, a membership organization of volunteer administrators founded in 1972, grants the award to corporations who have expressed a sincere commitment towards promoting volunteerism within the workforce.
Gas South was nominated for the award for the impactful service of its Gas South Cares program by the Georgia chapter of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, a faith-based charitable organization.
Gas South established Gas South Cares in 2010 as a company-wide initiative to give back to the communities it serves through educational partnerships, social service initiatives and community sponsorships.

Ga. United Credit Union welcomes new vice president of marketing
DULUTH -- Georgia United Credit Union has announced a new addition to their executive management team. Michelle Shelton joins as vice president of marketing. Shelton comes to Georgia United with a 20-plus year career with Royal Bank of Canada, where she held various leadership positions.
Starting in the RBC branch network and working her way throughout the organization, her last five years were spent at RBC headquarters where she was responsible for leveraging local markets to build brand and increase customer awareness.
At Georgia United, she will be responsible for developing marketing and business development strategy for the $950 million financial cooperative.
A native of Canada, she holds a master of business administration from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia.
