Gwinnett Coalition asking for school supplies

LAWRENCEVILLE -- The first day of school is Aug. 7, which is slowly creeping closer. To get a head start on collecting school supplies, the Gwinnett Coalition of Health and Human Services is asking the public to donate items for children in need.

The items needed include:

-- Book bags/back packs

-- Wide ruled loose note paper

-- Pocket folders with brads

-- Composition books

-- 1- and 2-inch three ring binders

-- Dry erase markers

-- Colored pencils/markers

-- Crayons

-- No. 2 pencils/cases/erasers

-- Tabbed dividers

-- Glue sticks and Elmer's glue

-- Calculators and scissors

-- Graph paper

-- Thumb drives

-- Index cards

-- Paint kits

-- Hand sanitizer

-- Spiral back notebooks

-- Construction paper

-- Pens

The donations can be directly dropped off at the nonprofits that need the items, which are the Norcross Cooperative Ministry, Overcomers House Inc., Family Promise of Gwinnett, StreetWise Georgia, Trinity Life Church, The Salvation Army, Gwinnett DFCS, Partnership Against Domestic Violence and For My Sisters.
