YOUTH ROUNDUP: Renegades win GGBL tourney title

The 9U South Gwinnett Renegades won the regular season Greater Gwinnett Baseball League championship and tournament titles.

The Renegades had a regular season record of 15-2-1, giving them the regular season championship. During the tournament the Renegades had to battle back from the losers bracket after losing the first game of the double elimination tournament by winning five games in a row to advance to the championship series. The Renegades won the championship series by beating Norcross in the best-of-three series.

By winning the GGBL championship, the Renegrades earned a trip to the Grand Slam World Series in Panama City, Fla., on June 23-30.

Team members are Brant Baughcum, A.B. Oesterle, Jonathan Jaime, Taz Butler, Jacob Mitchum, Garrett Langford, Michael Haynes, J.T. Hill, Johnny Lee, Dobbs Bowden, Thomas Witherspoon and Patrick Campbell.

The team is coached by Kenny Baughcum, Oscar Jamie, Taz Butler, Kevin Haynes and Tonya Hill.

North 14U wins GGBL crown

The North Gwinnet Bulldogs 14U won the Greater Gwinnett Baseball League Championship at Coolray Field.

The Bulldogs won five games in a row after losing the opener and used a 5-1 win over the Parkview Panthers to capture the title.

Team members are Jake Brace, Miles Griffin, Jason Willis, Ryan Watson, Alex Guzman, Cameron Smith, Parker Coyne, Walker House, Andrew Corn, Payne Walker and Aidan Sullivan. The coaches are Rob Brace and Randy Watson.
