SUWANEE -- The seventh installment of the Suwanee Performing Arts' annual summer performance features a large green ogre.
The youth-led fundraiser for the organization will feature "Shrek: The Musical" and be performed at 7 p.m. July 26 and 27 at Town Center. Previous performances of Broadway in the Park have been "Beauty and the Beast," "Hairspray," "Footloose," "Aladdin" and "High School Musical."
Before "Shrek," an opening play will be "Shooby Doo," an original musical mystery based on the popular cartoon "Scooby-Doo."
The weekend of performances transforms the Town Center amphitheater into a Broadway stage with professional lightning, sound, costumes and sets.
The SPA is a nonprofit community arts organization that hopes to develop a passion for the performing arts in the community. This is the largest community event each year.
The production is free. Donations are requested.
