Boating safety course at Lanier
FLOWERY BRANCH — United States Costal Guard Auxiliary of Lake Lanier, Flotilla 29, announces a 1-day 7-lesson “About Boating Safety” course. The course will also serve as a PWC certified course for children under age 16.
The course will cover content such as how to operate your vessel, state of Georgia regulations and boating emergencies. Successful completion of the course may result in a reductions in boat’s insurance premium.
The course will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Coast Guard Auxiliary Operations Center, 6595 Lights Ferry Road in Flowery Branch. The course will be $40. For more information, call Pat Lindsey, Flotilla Commander, at 770-393-4382.
Local dealership donates money to foundation
DULUTH — Gwinnett Place Ford Lincoln and When Everyone Survives Foundation are partnering to host Lincoln’s Driven To Give event. For every test-drive taken by members of the Duluth community, $20 will be donated to When Everyone Survives.
WES is a foundation that deals exclusively in research for leukemia. The event will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at 6555 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
Vaccinations for pets at Ga. SPCA
SUWANEE — The Georgia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is offering low-cost vaccinations for pets on certain vaccines. The Georgia SPCA is a nonprofit pet rescue organization located in Suwanee.
Services include canine and feline rabies shots, $10; canine and feline distemper shots, $10; canine bordetella shots, $10; canine heartworm test, $25; microchip, $25; and combo test, $25.
No appointment is necessary and all dogs must be on a leash and all cats must be in a carrier. If your pet has had an allergic reaction to vaccinations in the past, it is recommended that you see your regular veterinarian.
All proceeds from the clinic help benefit the animals and services of the Georgia SPCA. The vaccination clinic is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Georgia SPCA, 1175 Buford Highway in Suwanee. For more information, call Jane Stewart at 678-765-2776.
