Waitress wins $1 million lottery prize

ATLANTA -- A Barrow County restaurant server won $1 million playing the Georgia Lottery this week.

Diana Quiroz-Morales, 46, of Statham was given an oversized check on Wednesday at the Chevron Food Mart at 1194 Hog Mountain Road in Winder where she purchased the ticket. Quiroz-Morales played the instant game $1,000,000 Benjamins and won the top prize.

"I wait tables, and I had a really bad day," she said. "I stopped after work to buy a lottery ticket. It definitely changed my life in a split second."

Quiroz-Morales has two children and three grandsons, and said she would purchase a new car and home.

"I'm going to give to my daughters and invest the remainder," she said.
