DACULA — Rescuers responded Tuesday afternoon to a near drowning at a pool in Hamilton Mill Subdivision.
Lt. Colin Rhoden with Gwinnett County Fire said paramedics arrived at 12:37 p.m. after being called out minutes earlier.
On arrival, they found an 18-year-old man outside of the water at the pool. A witness told responders that the man “was in the shallow end of the pool timing how long he could hold his breath under the water. He was found in the water and pulled out by a lifeguard.”
Rhoden said paramedics treated the patient at the scene and “rapidly transported him” to a local area hospital where they were still treating him Tuesday afternoon.
