JEKYLL ISLAND — The Gwinnett Daily Post was honored with 13 awards in the Georgia Press Association 2013 Better Newspaper Contest, including first-place finishes by Will Hammock for sports column writing, John Bohn for sports feature photography and Nicole Puckett and Brendan Sullivan for photo illustration.
The Daily Post, which competes in Division A against the state’s largest newspapers, was also honored in the Page One competition, earning second place, and for its lifestyles coverage, placing third.
In addition to those awards, Tyler Estep was honored with second place for hard news writing and Brenden Sullivan also finished second for best Web photo. Earning third-place awards were Frank Reddy for education coverage and for religion coverage, Jason Braverman for feature photos, Estep for feature writing, Sullivan for sports feature photo and Hammock for sports writing.
The awards banquet, held Friday evening at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel, was part of the GPA’s 127th Annual Convention, a three-day event.
