Gwinnett Daily Post
Police are seeking two suspects in the alleged theft of a pistol.
PEACHTREE CORNERS -- Gwinnett County Police say a man who recently ate dinner at a local Mexican restaurant accidently left a bag containing a Glock pistol on a chair before exiting. Somebody walked in after him and stole it, officials report.
Cpl. Jake Smith with Gwinnett County Police said the man "left a satchel containing a pistol (Glock, model 27) and other personal items on the back of his chair when leaving. When he returned to retrieve the satchel a short time later it was gone."
In viewing the May 19 security video from the restaurant -- Taqueria del Mar, 5075 Peachtree Parkway, Peachtree Corners -- officers saw two suspects enter the store.
"The male suspect immediately approached the victim's table and sat in the chair with the satchel on the back," Smith said. "The female suspect briefly wandered near the table, then went to the front counter near the entrance they had just come through."
According to Smith, the male then went to the front counter near the entrance, while trying to hide the satchel under his shirt as he returned to the door.
No vehicle was observed, he said.
The first suspect is described as a black male, about 6-foot-1, having a medium build, short hair and clean shaven. The suspect wore an adjustable ball cap with a white emblem on the front, a large gray T-Shirt with a Nike emblem, dark pants and white basketball shoes or running shoes.
The second suspect was a black female, about 5-foot-8 with a heavy build and long black hair pulled back. The suspect wore a pink shirt with an opening on the back between the shoulders, dark pants, pink shoes and carried a large dark purse.
Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspects. Anyone with information should contact detectives at 770 513-5300.
