For the second straight year, Parkview High School had one of its star baseball players selected on the opening night of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
Recently graduated centerfielder Josh Hart was taken with the No. 37 overall pick in the Competitive Balance A round by the Baltimore Orioles.
He follows former Panther teammate Matt Olson, who was taken with the No. 47 pick in the same round by the Oakland Athletics a year ago.
Hart, who hit .449 with five home runs, 29 RBIs, 39 runs scored and 33 stolen bases to help the Panthers (29-7) to the Class AAAAAA state semifinals this spring, made it four players from nearby schools, and two from Gwinnett County, to be taken during Thursday's early rounds, following Loganville's Clint Frazier (No. 5 overall, Cleveland), Grayson's Austin Meadows (No. 9, Pittsburgh) and Winder-Barrow's Travis Demeritte (No. 30, Texas).
