GAB: Kroger honors service members, vets

ATLANTA Kroger and United Service Organization is launching Honoring Our Heroes campaign to give $2.3 million to service members, veterans and their families.

Kroger will use their products as well as major brand names such as Coca Cola, Frito Lay and Nestle to promote sales for the campaign. The funds earned will go to support the many different programs offered by USO. According to the USO's website it is a "nonprofit, congressionally chartered, private organization, the USO relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations to support its activities."

Festival benefits local charity

PEACHTREE CORNERS The Peachtree Corners Festival 5K, Fun Run and Charity Challenge is donating part of entry fee to charity of runner's choice, including Hi-Hope. Hi-Hope is a nonprofit charity that supports adults with developmental disabilities.

5K Entry Fees are $16.25 for adults, $11 for children. Fun Run Entry Fees on day of the race are $20 for adults, $15 for children.

The 5K begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Peachtree Elementary School, 5995 Crooked Creek Road in Peachtree Corners. For more information, visit http://www.iwelife.com/index.php?id=117.

Sugarloaf Mills hosting safety seminar

Sugarloaf Mills is hosting summer safety tips for children and families. The event will educate children about how to deal with fire, sports injuries, water safety and life saving skills given by Gwinnett County Fire Department.

Families will be able to play interactive games and other activities. The seminar starts at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sugarloaf Mills, 5900 Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville.
