Duluth's Harris selected for New England Basketball Hall of Fame

Duluth grad Mark Harris, a former standout at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, has been selected to the New England Basketball Hall of Fame's Class of 2013. He will be inducted June 22.

Harris, whose teams won two Constitution Athletic Conference titles, was the Coast Guard's all-time leading scorer (1,402 points) and rebounder (1,134) when he graduated in 1996. He was the first Bears player to top 1,000 in each category. He still holds the academy record for rebounds and ranks fourth all-time in both points and blocked shots (103). He also holds the single-game school mark with 22 rebounds.

After graduation, Harris has enjoyed a successful Coast Guard career. He is currently on a tour in Washington, D.C., as a Senate fellow for Coast Guard Congressional Affairs.
