LAWRENCEVILLE -- Get your tutus and leotards ready because Gwinnett Ballet Theatre has several camp opportunities for children ages 4 and up for the summer. Plus, there is a free open house from 2 to 4 p.m. today in the GBT studios.
"It's going to be a fun summer," Gwinnett Ballet Theatre Artistic Director Wade Walthall said. "We are going to have wonderful classes and inspiring guest teachers. Young dancers from age 4 and up will find a rewarding experience and increase their dance skills before the start of the 2013-2014 year."
There will be two camps for ballerinas ages 4 to 6 from Monday through Friday and July 22 through 26. The camps consist of ballet, costumes and crafts.
Beginner Ballet Summer Intensive is also Monday through Friday and July 22 through 24. This camp is for more serious dancers and features ballet technique basics, conditioning and ballet etiquette.
For more experienced dancers, there are Summer Intensive camps held June 10 through 14 and July 17 through 21. Robert Dekkers, a nationally acclaimed choreographer, teaches the week of June 10. Marcial Ibarra from Cuban National Ballet will teach the week of July 17.
After its summer programs, the Gwinnett Ballet will hold auditions July 28 and Aug. 4 for its fall programs. GBT is located at 1800 Macleod Drive in Lawrenceville.
