WINDER — A 5K race — Kickin’ Cancer — is scheduled for Saturday in support of a Winder boy battling a brain tumor.
The event is in honor of Will Wagner, a third-grader and the son of Winder-Barrow High football coach David Wagner, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December. The race will begin and end at Winder-Barrow High School at 272 North 5th Ave. in Winder.
Registration is $25 for all 5K runners, and $10 for the Tot Trot. Phantom Runner registration is $25 for those who want to support the event and get a T-shirt but cannot participate. Shirts will be mailed after the event. Race day shirts will be guaranteed to all pre-registered participants and as supplies last for race day participants.
A 1K trot is scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m., and the 5K will start at 8 a.m.
There will be awards for overall male and female runners, and the top three male and female runners in age groups 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-74 and 75 and over.
